It's Official.....

N is a homeschooler. I signed his wavier today, so he is officially a homeschooler for K5. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, I was completely overcome with appreciation. I am so thankful to live in a society where I can teach my children at home, as I feel God has called me to do. There are so many places in the world where parents can not do what I do. I pray that Burt and I never take for granted this awesome gift.
I am so excited about officially starting with N. I have been mulling over catalog after catalog and website after website. I will have a post soon about the curriculum I have picked for next year.

Back to reality

Our schedule for the last month has been so ridiculously amazing. Burt has not gone into work before 11am. He has helped out with school, housework, everything. The kids and I have been spoiled by all the Daddy time. Well....today was his first day back at NGU for the spring semester. He also had a breakfast with the worship team from church. He was up and out at 6 am and he is due home in about 15 minutes....Can you tell I have missed him? This has been a long day. Sure...I did 4 loads of laundry, school with the kids, cleaned the upstairs, workout and even showered and got out of my pjs today. But, I will be so excited when he gets here in 13 minutes.....until he makes me watch Night Rider tonight. LOL...I have missed you today Music Man!!!

Our Summer

Our summer has been very eventful....and not in a good way. In June, we experienced the miscarriage of our 5th child. Burt and I are devasted at the loss and completely in shock. I never expected going in for a routine midwife apt. would turn into an emergency ultrasound, hearing the words a mother never wants to hear......no, there is not a heart beat...our lives have been forever changed. Our little boy, Elijah Paul, will not be getting us up at night learning to crawl or chase his brother and sisters. He is in the loving arms of our Savior. my heart is so heavy...i feel lost.
Also, at the end of July, Katlyn's appendix ruptured. We spent 3 weeks and 3 days in the hospital with her surgery, infections, CT scans and IV's. She spent her 8th birthday at the hospital. She was such a warrior. She did amazing!!

We are starting school next week. We haven't even started and we are behind. Katlyn wanted to start school while she was in the hospital. She is so excited. Naaman and Ella Grace are ready to do "Big Kid School" like Sissy. I wanted to start at the first of Aug. so we could take the month of Dec off. We'll have to see how we can get that accomplished. I will be updating soon.

Crazy week

We have been so busy, I feel like I have neglected my poor little blog. Here's a quick update. we have been getting ready for a 90th birthday party bash for Burt's granddad and Papa Cliff. Family and friends from all over will be coming to celebrate. We are so excited!!!! As most of you know we moved into our new house in Feb., so I have been running around like a crazy person trying to get my house clean. School has been slimmed down to the basics (Bible, Math, Latin and Grammar). Also this week, we have fixed 15 meals and a months worth of babyfood for Taylor.
I will update with pics hopefully this coming week.
Also, if anyone who reads this is a prayer warrior please check out this blog deniseinsc.blogspot.com this family needs all the prayers they can get right now. Thanks!

Oh, the funny things they say!

My kids have been a riot this week when it comes to giving comebacks. I thought all of you would enjoy a few classic comebacks.
I made the mistake of letting my children watch a show called "the Replacements' . In this show the kids get into a bind or want to fix someone they call in "a replacement' Katlyn told me she wished that could happen in real life. I asked who she would replace........She said...my history teacher!!!!!! Ah, the joys of homeschooling!!!!

Before Burt gets home in the evenings the kids pick up the living room area. Well today Naaman said that he was a monster that ate the real Naaman and he couldn't clean. Unfortunately for the monster they have to clean at my house too. Unsatisfied with that answer, he announces that he didn't want to be clean he wanted to be in charge like me so he could fix dinner and do laundry.

Hope you are having a great week! I will be posting our weekly report tomorrow!!!
