Our Summer

Our summer has been very eventful....and not in a good way. In June, we experienced the miscarriage of our 5th child. Burt and I are devasted at the loss and completely in shock. I never expected going in for a routine midwife apt. would turn into an emergency ultrasound, hearing the words a mother never wants to hear......no, there is not a heart beat...our lives have been forever changed. Our little boy, Elijah Paul, will not be getting us up at night learning to crawl or chase his brother and sisters. He is in the loving arms of our Savior. my heart is so heavy...i feel lost.
Also, at the end of July, Katlyn's appendix ruptured. We spent 3 weeks and 3 days in the hospital with her surgery, infections, CT scans and IV's. She spent her 8th birthday at the hospital. She was such a warrior. She did amazing!!

We are starting school next week. We haven't even started and we are behind. Katlyn wanted to start school while she was in the hospital. She is so excited. Naaman and Ella Grace are ready to do "Big Kid School" like Sissy. I wanted to start at the first of Aug. so we could take the month of Dec off. We'll have to see how we can get that accomplished. I will be updating soon.

Crazy week

We have been so busy, I feel like I have neglected my poor little blog. Here's a quick update. we have been getting ready for a 90th birthday party bash for Burt's granddad and Papa Cliff. Family and friends from all over will be coming to celebrate. We are so excited!!!! As most of you know we moved into our new house in Feb., so I have been running around like a crazy person trying to get my house clean. School has been slimmed down to the basics (Bible, Math, Latin and Grammar). Also this week, we have fixed 15 meals and a months worth of babyfood for Taylor.
I will update with pics hopefully this coming week.
Also, if anyone who reads this is a prayer warrior please check out this blog deniseinsc.blogspot.com this family needs all the prayers they can get right now. Thanks!

Oh, the funny things they say!

My kids have been a riot this week when it comes to giving comebacks. I thought all of you would enjoy a few classic comebacks.
I made the mistake of letting my children watch a show called "the Replacements' . In this show the kids get into a bind or want to fix someone they call in "a replacement' Katlyn told me she wished that could happen in real life. I asked who she would replace........She said...my history teacher!!!!!! Ah, the joys of homeschooling!!!!

Before Burt gets home in the evenings the kids pick up the living room area. Well today Naaman said that he was a monster that ate the real Naaman and he couldn't clean. Unfortunately for the monster they have to clean at my house too. Unsatisfied with that answer, he announces that he didn't want to be clean he wanted to be in charge like me so he could fix dinner and do laundry.

Hope you are having a great week! I will be posting our weekly report tomorrow!!!

Weekly Report

We are getting settled into the house. Most of the painting is done and the garage is slowly getting emptied off boxes. (who knew we had so much stuff?)
School has been going great. We have started a new schedule which is working great! I have been trying to involve Naaman and Ella Grace more as we go along. They get so excited to do "Big Kid School".
Now for our lessons this week.

We are using Veritas Press Bible. Our card this week to us into the life of Abraham. The memory CD that goes along with the cards is a hit at our house. Naaman loves to sing along with is.

Latin is one of our favorites!!! We finished lesson 4 and have moved to lesson 5 which is a review of all vocab. and of our first latin prayer. Katlyn is a sponge when it comes to memorizing. We are really enjoying learning another language and I am looking forward to adding in Spanish next year.

We are in the first few lessons of First Language Lessons 3 and I must say this is GREAT program. Katlyn was so excited that she actually got her on workbook. We are doing one lesson a day 5x a week. We are currently memorizing "the Land of Nod"

We are still doing preschool work..mainly flashcards and readalouds. I have been researching preschool programs for next year it is tough because I want to make sure Ella Grace isn't left out. With her and Naaman being 15 months apart I thought I would do the same thing withthem at the same time....I did't count on Naaman being ready to do school so soon. I am sure we will figure out something before fall :)

In other Elmore news, Taylor is rolling all over the place....I am surprised she doesn't get dizzy LOL. She also is sporting 2 new teeth.

Hope you have a great week!!!
